Which is cheaper, plexiglass or acrylic?
Acrylic is cheaper and easier to make, but will shatter if hit hard enough.
Is acrylic weather resistant?
Polyacrylamide has weather resistance unmatched by other general-purpose plastics. It can withstand high levels of light, salt water spray, extreme cold and show temperature changes without breaking, fogging or losing the glass.
Acrylic scratches easily, so avoid contact with corrosive or abrasive items. If you want to place a metal or similar hard-edged object on an acrylic table or tray, we recommend gluing a felt pad to the underside of the object to prevent it from scratching the delicate surface.
What material is better than acrylic?
Polycarbonate is a stronger material and is 250 times more impact-resistant than standard glass. Polycarbonate is more elastic than acrylic, making it ideal for demanding applications such as bulletproof windows.
